Skin cancer is on the rise! Statistics showed that more than 3 million Americans develop skin cancer each year. Most cases involve basal and squamous cell carcinomas (which are rarely fatal, but disfiguring). But, an estimated 91,000 people will be diagnosed with melanoma, and 9,000 Americans will die from it. It is nothing to be taken lightly!
When looking for sunscreen, you want to look for SPF which rates how it protects you from the UVB rays. For UVA rays look for Broad Spectrom sunscreen
Two classes of ingredients provides the UVA protection. For safety reasons, You want to select the Mineral sunscreen: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide. The mineral sunscreen doesn’t absorb into your body like chemical sunscreen and is well tolerated by people with sensitive skin. It is also recommended for children and babies.
Besides the active ingredients, there are inactive ingredients that are used to make the product feel like other cosmetics.You also want to check those ingredients, ingredients like fragrance, paraben, are among the list of ingredients that pose harmful effects on our body and need to be avoided.
